EuroBasket 2007 Women, current information

Tommorow will be draw for EuroBasket 2007.  Women competitions will be held in Chieti, Italy.

Czech Republic, Russia, Spain, Lithuania, France will all play in the 2006 FIBA World Championship for Women and are therefore directly qualified for EuroBasket Women 2007. Italy is also directly qualified as the host nation.

Division A 

The remaining teams will be divided into three groups of four and two groups of three teams based on the following seeding:

Seed 1 Latvia Poland Turkey Serbia & Montenegro Greece
Seed 2 Germany Romania Slovakia Ukraine Hungary
Seed 3 Belgium Croatia Israel Bulgaria Finland
Seed 4 Belarus Sweden Slovenia

Games will be played on 6th, 9th, 13th, 16th, 20th and 24th September 2006.

The group winners and the four best second-placed teams will qualify directly to EuroBasket Women 2007.

The remaining 9 teams will play for the final qualification spot in the additional qualifying round which will take place in 2007.

Division B

The following teams will be divided into one group of five teams and one group of four teams.

Seed 1 Ireland Portugal
Seed 2 Norway Bosnia & Herzegovina
Seed 3 Netherlands Estonia
Seed 4 Iceland Luxembourg
Seed 5 England 

Games will be played on 9th, 13th, 16th, 20th and 24th September 2006.

The top two teams in each group will qualify to the play-offs, which will be crossover home and away games. The two winners will earn promotion to Division A.
