There was a small surprise in Mbombela where leader Tigers (1-0) defeated 4th placed Rhinos (1-2) 83-65 on Sunday. Tigers forced 21 Rhinos turnovers. The former international point guard Lebesa Selepe (193-1991) stepped up and scored 14 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and Lebohang Mofokeng (194-1992) chipped in 19 points and 7 rebounds. Five Tigers players scored in double figures. Forward Nathan Kayinda responded with 23 points and swingman Kwazi Gumede (191-1997) scored 16 points and 4 steals. Rhinos' coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Tigers left bottom position moving up to third place, which they share with KZ Marlins. Loser Rhinos dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. They share it with Egoli Magic. Tigers will meet at home Magic (#5) in the next round. Rhinos will have a break next round.
