Regular Season Round 7: City Oilers - SLAC 68-96

Guinean SLAC has finally registered their first victory this season after three consecutive losses. The win is especially important as it came on the road game in Kampala, where they outplayed Ugandan City Oilers (0-3) 96-68 on Tuesday. SLAC dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to City Oilers' 28. SLAC forced 19 City Oilers turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by City Oilers' players. American Dane Miller (203-1990, college: Rutgers) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners. Nigerian point guard Uchenna Iroegbu (183-1996, college: Stony Brook) chipped in 22 points. Miller is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five SLAC players scored in double figures. American James Justice (178-1989, college: UT Southern) produced 30 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import Falando Jones (193-1990, college: MVSU, agency: AG Sports Solutions) added 20 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. SLAC (1-3) left bottom position moving up to fourth place, which they share with Cape Town T. It was City Oilers' third loss in a row. Defending Ugandan champion still closes the standings with three games lost. SLAC will meet league's second-placed Al Ahly in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. City Oilers will play against Tigers (#4) in Cape Town and hope to get finally their first victory.
