The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Angolan P.Luanda as it allowed them to take a leadership position. P.Luanda smashed 3rd ranked South African Tigers at home 87-48. P.Luanda dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Tigers' 24. They outrebounded Tigers 52-31 including a 36-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. P.Luanda looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a good game for swingman Gerson Goncalves (193-1996) who led his team to a victory with 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. American-Hungarian forward Damian Hollis (203-1988, college: GWU, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 13 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four P.Luanda players scored in double figures. American forward Josh Hall (206-2000) replied with 14 points and 6 rebounds and Nigerian-American swingman Michael Gbinije (201-1992, college: Syracuse, agency: AltusBasket) added 8 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Tigers. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. P.Luanda have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Tigers at the other side keep the third place with one game lost. Tigers will play next round against strong Fer.Beira trying to get back on the winning streak. P.Luanda will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked SLAC in Conakry.
