Regular Season Round 9: KIU Rangers - UCU Ladies 74-76

The most exciting game of round 9 in the NBL took place in Kampala. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 3rd placed KIU Rangers (8-3) to fourth ranked UCU Ladies (8-3) 76-74 in the game for the third place. UCU Ladies forced 21 KIU Rangers turnovers and outrebounded them 49-37 including 20 on the offensive glass. 24 personal fouls committed by KIU Rangers helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was forward Rose Akon (-2000) who had a double-double by scoring 29 points and 24 rebounds. Shakirah Nanvubya (-2000) chipped in 6 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Sharon Kirabo (170-1996) who recorded 27 points and 8 rebounds and guard Ninette Uwineza added 8 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists respectively. KIU Rangers' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. UCU Ladies moved-up to third place, which they share with defeated KIU Rangers. UCU Ladies' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Kampala to the arena KCCA Leopards.
