Regular Season Round 9: Miracle - KIU Rangers 59-65

Another exciting game was again a derby between two local teams from Kampala: KIU Rangers (#3) and Miracle (#7). Miracle was defeated at home 59-65 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. KIU Rangers forced 27 Miracle turnovers and outrebounded them 62-44 including a 31-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Forward Sharon Kirabo (170-1996) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 15 rebounds for the winners and guard Perus Nyamwenge chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. KIU Rangers' coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was forward Barbara Namukaaya with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and forward Lillian Cherotich produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds. KIU Rangers maintains third place with 8-3 record behind leader JKL Dolphins, which they share with UCU Ladies. Newly promoted Miracle keeps the seventh position with seven games lost. KIU Rangers' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Kampala to the arena Nabisunsa.
