Regular Season Round 7: Zamalek - P.Luanda 85-72

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Angolan P.Luanda (3-1) in Cairo on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by Egyptian Zamalek (4-0) 85-72. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Zamalek looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Center Anas Mahmoud (216-1995, college: Louisville) fired a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Dominican-American point guard Edgar Sosa (190-1988, college: Louisville) chipped in 19 points. Guard Childe Dundao (167-1998) produced 16 points and swingman Gerson Goncalves (193-1996) added 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Four P.Luanda players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Zamalek have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending Egyptian champion maintains first place with 4-0 record. Defending Angolan champion P.Luanda keeps the second position with one game lost. Zamalek are looking forward to face FAP (#4) in the next round. P.Luanda will play against Fukash and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
