Zamalek edged Petro de Luanda to advance into Basketball League Africa Final. Al Zamalek players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Petro de Luanda's players. U.S. Virgin Islands-Puerto Rican point guard Walter Hodge (183-86, college: Florida) nailed a double-double by scoring 19 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists for the winning side and center Anas Mahmoud (216-95, college: Louisville) accounted for 14 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Five Al Zamalek players scored in double figures. German-Angolan center Jone Lopes (208-90) came up with 12 points and 9 rebounds and Portuguese-Angolan guard Carlos Morais (200-85, agency: Duran International) added 18 points respectively for Petro de Luanda in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
