Defending champion Al Ahly Cairo (Superleague) signed 31-year old American (who also holds a South Sudanese passport) 204cm small forward Nuni Omot (college: Baylor). It marks his return to Cairo, as he previously played there. He joins from Al Ittihad Tripoli in the Libyan D1 league, where he played this season. Last year, Omot played in three leagues in three countries, including for Hotshots in the Filipino PBA. In three D1 games, he averaged an impressive 32.3ppg, 7.3rpg, and 6.0apg.
He also represented South Sudan at the FIBA Olympic Games in Paris (France) two years ago. During this event, he scored an average of 16.7 points per game and had 3.3 rebounds per game.
Omot, a very experienced player, has traveled extensively during his pro career, playing in thirteen different countries on five continents. He has played for teams in China, France, Germany, Holland, Israel, Lebanon, Philippines, Poland, Puerto Rico, Turkey, North Macedonia, NBA G League, and Rwanda. In 2026, his team was the regular season runner-up in Libyan League Group 2.
Among many awards, he was voted to Afrobasket.com All-FIBA Afrobasket Honorable Mention in 2025.
He graduated from Baylor University in 2018 and this will be his eighth season in pro basketball. Omot played for other colleges such as Indian Hills Community College and Concordia University St. Paul.
