Defending champion ASC Ville de Dakar (N1M) added experienced 38-year-old Ivorian point guard Solo Diabate (183cm-76kg-1987, agency: Interperformances) to their roster. He is the second foreign player on the team, joining South Sudanese Ater Majok. Diabate most recently played at Dar City in the Tanzanian NBL league. Last season, he played at Atletico Petroleos de Luanda in the Angolan Division I, where he averaged 7.1ppg, 3.0rpg, 4.8apg, and 1.7spg in 30 games, helping them win the league title.
He has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2016.
Diabate represented Ivory Coast at the FIBA Olympic Games Qualifying Tournament in San Juan (Puerto Rico) two years ago. During this event, he scored an average of 12 points per game and had rebounds per game.
He is quite an experienced player. His career allowed him to visit three different continents, while he played in seven different countries. Diabate tasted the life as a pro basketball player in Europe, Asia, and Africa. He has played previously in China (Anhui Putianxingfa), France (JDA Dijon, Gravelines Dunkerque, Champagne, Chorale de Roanne, and Sluc Nancy), Slovakia (Levice), Tunisia (US Monastir), North Macedonia (MZT Skopje), Egypt (Zamalek, Al Ittihad Alexandria, and Smouha), and Libya (Al Ittihad Tri and Ahly Benghazi).
Among many awards, he was voted to Afrobasket.com All-FIBA Afrobasket Honorable Mention in 2025. It's very possible he may end his playing career at ASC Ville de Dakar.
