Defending champion Nairobi City Thunder (Premier League) has signed 26-year-old American 208cm forward Lance Thomas (college: USA, agency: Haylett Sports) for the new season. He is the second import player on the roster, with Senegalese Cheikh Diong joining earlier. Thomas played this summer at Dorados in the Mexican LNBP, averaging 7.6ppg, 4.0rpg, 1.2apg, and 1.1spg in 9 games. He also played for X-Rayted in the U.S. semi-pro league The Basketball Tournament.
Two years ago, a year after his graduation, he was drafted by the Oklahoma City Blue (G-League) in the first round (26th overall).
He graduated from the University of South Alabama in 2022, and it will be his fifth season in pro basketball.
Thanks to pro basketball, Thomas has experienced life on three different continents. He is familiar with Asian, Latin American, and North American leagues. He has played professionally in Venezuela (Llaneros) and Mongolia (BCH Knights). Thomas was also voted to Asia-Basket.com All-Mongolian League Honorable Mention in 2025.
He played in the final of the Mexican CIBACOPA in 2024. Thomas played for other colleges like the University of Memphis and the University of Louisville.
