Al Ahly Benghazi (D1) strengthened their roster with the addition of experienced 35-year-old Croatian ex-international power forward Tomislav Zubcic (213cm-1990). He was the top scorer at Gevi Napoli Basket in Italian Serie A. In 19 games, he recorded 10.1ppg, 4.8rpg, and 1.4apg last season. The previous (2023-24) season, he played at another Italian team, Gevi Napoli Basket (also in Serie A).
In 2012, he was drafted by the Toronto Raptors (NBA) in the second round (56th overall).
He was also a member of the Croatian international program for some years. Zubcic played for Croatian Senior National Team between 2009 and 2022 and previously for the Under 20 National Team back in 2010.
He also represented Croatia at the FIBA World Cup 2023 European Qualifiers two years ago. Zubcic's team got to the Semifinals and he had 6 ppg.
Zubcic is a highly experienced player. He has played on three different continents (Europe, Asia, and North America) in twelve different countries. He has played previously in Bosnia (Igokea), Germany (Telekom Baskets), Kuwait (Qadsia), Lithuania (Rytas), Russia (Avtodor, Enisey, and BC Pari Nizhny Novgorod), Spain (BAXI Manresa), Turkey (Tofas and Trabzonspor), United Kingdom (Lions), Croatia (Cibona, Zadar, Cedevita, and Dinamo), NBA G League (OKC Blue), and The Basketball Tournament (Money Team).
In 2023, he won the British BBL championship title. Zubcic received the Eurobasket.com All-FIBA Europe Cup European Player of the Year award and Eurobasket.com All-FIBA Europe Cup Forward of the Year award in 2020.
