South Sudanese Forward Majok Deng (205-F-1993) had an amazing evening in the last round for top-ranked Al Ittihad Alexandria, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 1.
The 31-year old player had a double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds, while his team beat FUS Rabat (#3, 1-2) 71-60. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Al Ittihad Al. to consolidate first place in the Basketball Africa League. The season is still on an early stage, but Al Ittihad Al. already had a very good start winning all 3 without losing a single one. In the team's last game Deng had a remarkable 71.4% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Al Ittihad Al., being already a very valuable addition to the team. Former University of Louisiana at Monroe star has very solid stats this year. Deng is in league's top in points (4th best: 17.3ppg), rebounds (5th best: 7.3rpg) and averages impressive 69.2% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was young American Johnathan Jordan (178-PG-1992, agency: Slash Sports) of Fath US de Rabat. Jordan had a very good evening with 22 points and 5 rebounds. Bad luck as FUS Rabat lost that game 60-71 to Al Ittihad Al. (3-0). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Jordan is well-known at FUS Rabat and is a proven leader in his second season with the team. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 15.3ppg (#7). His other stats are also decent: 6.0rpg and 5.7apg.

Third on the list of top players last round was Italian center Peter Olisemeka (207-C-1991) of league's second-best Rivers Royal Hoopers. Olisemeka scored 10 points and grabbed 14 rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Rivers H., leading his team to a 88-82 win against #3 ranked FUS Rabat in a game of the week. Rivers H. needs these victories very badly if they think about taking over top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 2 victories and 1 lost game. Olisemeka has a great season in Basketball Africa League. After only 3 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 10.0rpg (#1 in league) and assists with 2.3apg (9th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Abdelhakim Zouita (200-F-1986) of FUS Rabat - 19 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists
5. Mahamane Coulibaly (206-2001) of Stade - 20 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists
6. Kelvin Amayo (193-G-1992) of Rivers H. - 23 points, 2 rebounds and 4 assists
7. Madut Akec (201-F-1999) of Rivers H. - 25 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
