Defending champion Rivers Royal Hoopers (PBL) inked 33-year old double-passport holder Canadian 193cm guard Kelvin Amayo (college: LMU, agency: DBA Reed). It is actually his comeback to Port Harcourt as he has played here before. He started the season at Al Ahly Tripoli in Libyan D1 league.
He is a very experienced player. Amayo has quite traveled the world as his pro career brought him to four different continents (Europe, Asia, Africa and of course North America). He has played previously professionally in Georgia (Zestaponi), Iran (Chemidor, Azarshahr and Sanaye), Mali (Stade) and The Basketball Tournament (Johnnies).
Among many awards he won Mali League championship title in 2023. Amayo received Asia-Basket.com All-Iranian Superleague Player of the Year award and Asia-Basket.com All-Iranian Superleague Defensive Player of the Year award back in 2020.
He graduated from Loyola Marymount University in 2017 and it is his eighth season in pro basketball. Amayo played for other colleges like: Iona College, Marshall University, Towson University.
