Defending champion Rivers Royal Hoopers (PBL) landed 26-year old South Sudanese-Australian 201cm forward Madut Akec (college: Detroit). He is the second import player in the roster as Italian Peter Olisemeka signed here earlier.
He played recently at NS Matrix in Malaysian MBL league. In 7 games he averaged impressive 18.3ppg, 11.3rpg, 3.4apg, 2.7spg and 1.0bpg last season. He helped them to win the regular season and make it to the semifinals. He also played for Al Safa of Safwa (SBL) in Saudi Arabian league.
Akec is a very experienced player. And here thanks to pro basketball he experienced life in nine different countries playing on five different continents. He is familiar with European, Asian, Australian, African and of course North American leagues. Akec has played previously professionally in Australia (Raiders), Canada, Cyprus (Etha), Lebanon (Mayrouba), Saudi Arabia, Syria (Al Karameh), Senegal (Douanes) and North Macedonia (Cair 2030 Skopje).
Among many awards he was voted to Afrobasket.com All-Basketball Africa League Honorable Mention in 2024.
He graduated from University of Detroit Mercy in 2022 and it is his third season in pro basketball. Akec played also for University of South Florida for 3 years.
