Mali Aliou Diarra (200-F-2001) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's leader Fath US de Rabat and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 3.
The 22-year old forward had a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds, while his team beat Cape Town T. (#4, 1-4) 84-75. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed FUS Rabat to consolidate first place in the Basketball Africa League. FUS Rabat have a solid 5-1 record. Diarra turned to be FUS Rabat's top player in his first season with the team. Diarra has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (4th best: 15.0ppg), assists (2nd best: 1.3apg) and averages solid 2.3bpg and 68.4% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young center Yanick Moreira (208-C-1991) of second-ranked Atletico Petroleos de Luanda. Moreira impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds. Bad luck as P.Luanda lost that game 78-84 to Cape Town T. (1-4). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Moreira is a newcomer at P.Luanda and despite he is not a team leader yet, every game he becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.

The third best performed player last round was American Billy Preston (206-PF-1997) of Cape Town Tigers (#4). Preston showcased his all-around game by recording 20 points, 11 rebounds (!!!) and 4 assists in the last round. He was a key player of Tigers, leading his team to a 84-78 win against #2 ranked P.Luanda in a game of the week. Cape Town T. can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 1-4 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Preston has individually a great season in Basketball Africa League. After only 5 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 16.2ppg (3rd best), rebounds with 6.4rpg (4th best) and assists with 2.4apg (9th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Johnathan Jordan (178-PG-1992) of FUS Rabat - 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists
5. Cartier Diarra (190-PG-1998) of Cape Town T. - 14 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists
6. Samkelo Cele (198-G-1997) of Cape Town T. - 24 points and 2 rebounds
7. Abdelhakim Zouita (200-F-1986) of FUS Rabat - 16 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Anthony Nelson (193-G-1998) of P.Luanda - 10 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Childe Dundao (169-PG-1998) of P.Luanda - 10 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists
10. Gerson Goncalves (193-F/G-1996) of P.Luanda - 8 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
