Group BFer.Beira - P.Luanda 76-101No shocking result in a game when top-ranked Angolan P.Luanda (3-0) crushed on the road 6th ranked Mozambican Fer.Beira (1-2) 101-76 on Saturday. P.Luanda made 25-of-31 free shots (80.6 percent) during the game. They also forced 24 Fer.Beira turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Fer.Beira's players. Portuguese-Angolan Carlos Morais (192-1985) notched 18 points to lead the effort and American-Hungarian forward Damian Hollis (203-1988, college: GWU, agency: Interperformances) supported him with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Four P.Luanda players scored in double figures. Even 17 points by American point guard Najeal Young (198-1994, college: TxWes) did not help to save the game for Fer.Beira. Senegalese Makhtar Gueye (208-1997, college: CBU) added 13 points and 6 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. P.Luanda have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending Angolan champion keeps a position of league leader. Loser Fer.Beira dropped to the fourth place with two games lost. P.Luanda will meet SLAC (#6) in the next round where they are favorite. Fer.Beira will play against Tigers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
