The best player for the winners was forward Aboubakar Gakou (201-1997) who scored 17 points and 8 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Center Yanick Moreira (208-1991, college: SMU, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 14 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was American-South Sudanese guard Padiet Wang (193-1998, college: UCCS) who recorded 15 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Zamalek. Cobra at the other side dropped to the fourth place with two games lost. They share the position with Cape Town T.. Cobra will play next round against strong Tigers trying to get back on the winning streak. P.Luanda will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked FAP at home.
Undefeated Cameroonian FAP (1-1) recorded its first loss at the home court. Hosts were edged by fifth ranked South African Tigers (1-2) 73-70. It was a good game for Central African-French forward Evans Ganapamo (201-1994, college: PVAMU) who led his team to a victory with 24 points. Myck Kabongo contributed with 9 points, 6 rebounds and 12 assists for the winners. Swingman Cedric Tsangue (194-1991) replied with 16 points for FAP. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Tigers left bottom position moving up to fourth place, which they share with Cobra. Defending Cameroonian champion FAP keeps the third position with one game lost. Tigers will play against Cobra (#5) in the next round. FAP will play against the league's leader P.Luanda and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
South Sudanese Cobra can celebrate finally their first win this season after two consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat DR Congolese Fukash (0-2) 108-82 on Wednesday. Mayan Kiir had a double-double by scoring 24 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners. The best for the losing side was Rolly Nganga with 14 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cobra (1-2) left bottom position moving up to fourth place, which they share with Cape Town T. Loser Fukash still closes the standings with two games lost. Cobra will meet at home Tigers (#4) in the next round. Fukash will play against the league's second-placed Zamalek and hopes to get finally their first victory.
