Angola claimed their 12th AfroBasket title. They overcame Mali in Luanda tonight to lift the first trophy since 2013. Childe Dundao (169-PG-1998) posted 16 points to pace the champions.
Angola looked dominant from start to finish. The hosts eked out a 14-10 lead after ten minutes. Angola boosted the lead to 12 points at the interval 32-20. Angola kept Mali at distance throughout the third term. Angola recorded a comfortable 51-31 advantage at the final intermission. Angola limited Mali to only 12 points in the fourth frame and cruised to the victory. Selton Miguel (193-G-2000, college: Maryland) provided 12 points for Angola. Siriman Kanoute (180-PG-2001) replied with 14 points for Mali. Aliou Diarra (200-F-2001) chipped in 11 points in the loss.
