In 2019, he was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers (NBA) in the second round (34th overall). He graduated from the University of Maryland, and it will be his seventh season in pro basketball. Fernando has been a member of the Angolan international program for several years. He has played for the Angolan senior team since 2016 and previously for the Under 19 National Team in 2017. Fernando also represented Angola at the FIBA Olympic Games Qualifying Tournament in Valencia (Spain) last year. During this event, he scored an average of 12 ppg and had 10 rpg. He is a very experienced player. Fernando has played professionally in Turkey, NBA (Atlanta Hawks, Boston Celtics, and Houston Rockets), NBA G League (College Park SkyHawks and Maine Celtics), and NBA Summer League (Boston Celtics). He was selected to the Big Ten All-Defensive Team during his college career in 2019.
