Sporting de Luanda wins National Basketball Championship for the first time

Sporting de Luanda on Sunday won for the first time in its history the National Senior Women's Basketball Championship "Liga Azule" after beating 1 de Agosto by 93-88. In the third game of the playoffs, the best-of-five, played at the Kilamba pavillion in Luanda, it took two overtimes for the Lions to win the title. Those led by Angela Cardoso (180-PF-1979) won 3-0, after previous victories of 56-40 (Game 1) and 54-52 (Game 2). Chanaya Pinto (185-F-2000, college: Penn State), from Sporting de Luanda, was the topscorer with 39 points, followed by her teammate Denise Pascoal (173-G-1999) with 24. The Interclube team eliminated in the semifinals by 1 de Agosto, is the most titled with 17 trophies, while the "military" have 14. Courtesy of: angop.ao
