Sporting de Luanda wins National Basketball Championship for the first time- July 10, 2025Sporting de Luanda on Sunday won for the first time in its history the National Senior Women's Basketball Championship "Liga Azule" after beating 1 de Agosto by 93-88. In the third game of the playoffs, the best-of-five, played at the Kilamba pavillion in Luanda, it took two overtimes for the Lions to win the title. Those led by Angela Cardoso (180-PF-1979) won 3-0, after previous victories of 56-40 (Game 1) and 54-52 (Game 2). Chanaya Pinto (185-F-2000, college: Penn State), from Sporting de Luanda, was the topscorer with 39 points, followed by her teammate Denise Pascoal (173-G-1999) with 24.
