Helder Fernandes claims Angolan Division I Hoops Agents weekly honour

Helder Fernandes (F) had a great game in the last round for Sporting Clube de Luanda and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 14.
The forward had the game-high 29 points adding six rebounds and four assists for Sporting L. in his team's victory, helping them to edge out CPPL (#5, 9-3) 91-87. Sporting maintains the 3rd position in Angolan Division I. They are still close to the very top. Sporting would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 11-2 record. In the team's last game Fernandes had a remarkable 66.7% from 2-point range. It was one of impressive evenings for him as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Fernandes has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in assists (4th best: 4.3apg) and averages solid 2.8spg and 52.0% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young forward Joseney Joaquim (200-F-1992) of Casa do Pessoal do Porto de Luanda. Joaquim impressed basketball fans with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists. Bad luck as CPPL was edged by slightly higher-ranked Sporting L. (#3, 11-2) 91-87. This loss caused CPPL to drop to 5th position in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But a 9-3 record is not bad and everything may still change. Joaquim is a newcomer at CPPL and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was Helio Santos (SG) of Akiras Academy Luanda (#14). Santos scored 19 points and grabbed 14 rebounds (!!!). Despite Santos' great performance the Akira lost 68-71 to the higher-ranked ASA (#9, 5-9). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Akira can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have extremely bad season and 1-13 record places them at the very bottom of the standings. Santos has a very solid season. In 13 games in Angola he scored 8.5ppg.

7. Childe Dundao (169-PG-1998) of P.Luanda - 14 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists
8. Mutau Fonseca (202-PF-1989) of Sporting L. - 13 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Aboubacar Gakou (201-F-1997) of P.Luanda - 14 points and 14 rebounds
10. Tarcio Domingos (194-PG-1998) of Sporting L. - 21 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists
