Angolan Division I round 13 best performance: Helder Fernandes

Forward Helder Fernandes (F) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Sporting Clube de Luanda, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 13.
The player was the main contributor (29 points, six rebounds and four assists) to his team's victory, helping them to edge out CPPL (#5, 9-3) 91-87. Sporting maintains the 3rd position in Angolan Division I. They are still close to the very top. Sporting would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 11-2 record. In the team's last game Fernandes had a remarkable 66.7% from 2-point range. It was one of impressive evenings for him as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Helder Fernandes has solid league stats. He is in league's top in assists (4th best: 4.3apg) and averages impressive 2.8spg and 52.0% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was young international center Fidel Cabita (206-C-1993) of FC Vila Clotilde. Cabita had a very good evening with 27 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Of course he led Vila Clotilde to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Benguela (#12, 3-10) 122-79. Vila Clotilde's 6th position in the standings has not changed. His team lost some distance to top teams. But a 8-6 record is not bad and everything may still change. Cabita is a newcomer at Vila Clotilde, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was forward Joseney Joaquim (200-F-1992) of Casa do Pessoal do Porto de Luanda (#5). Joaquim scored 19 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Despite Joaquim's great performance the CPPL lost 87-91 to slightly higher-ranked Sporting L. (#3, 11-2). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing CPPL needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 9 victories and 3 lost games. Joaquim has a great season in Angola. After 11 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 9.2rpg (4th best). He also has 1.3bpg and a FGP of 54.0%.
