CPPL made 25-of-29 free shots (86.2 percent) during the game. Strangely Vila Clotilde outrebounded CPPL 48-36 including a 23-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. Rather expected game when 13th ranked Benguela (1-4) was defeated at home by eleventh ranked Vila Clotilde B (3-8) 90-82 on Saturday. Vila Clotilde B forced 24 Benguela turnovers and outrebounded them 45-33 including a 36-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Herve Matubilo scored 24 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international Gilson Martins (-1992) chipped in 12 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals during the contest. Vila Clotilde B's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Genilson Lucombo responded with 25 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 8 steals and Nelson Nequeta produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Four Benguela players scored in double figures. Vila Clotilde B moved-up to tenth place. Benguela lost third consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth position with four games lost. Vila Clotilde B will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. The game between closely ranked teams ended with tenth ranked Interclube B's (3-5) road victory over 11th ranked Vila Clotilde B (3-8) 86-65 on Tuesday. Interclube B dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Vila Clotilde B's 16. Interclube B forced 20 Vila Clotilde B turnovers and outrebounded them 46-33 including a 36-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Interclube B looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Eduardo Luis had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 18 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Luis Nunes chipped in 22 points and 14 rebounds during the contest. Four Interclube B players scored in double figures. At the losing side Dario Domingos responded with 15 points and Stelmar Cassule (-2006) scored 12 points (made all of his seven free throws). Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Interclube B moved-up to ninth place. Newly promoted Vila Clotilde B dropped to the tenth position with eight games lost. Interclube B are looking forward to face Benguela (#13) on the road in the next round.
