Pinto's double-double lands him Player of the Week award

Joel Pinto (C/F) had a great game in the last round for Desportivo 1. De Agosto Luanda and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 9.
He had a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds, while his team beat ASA (#9, 2-5) 89-79. 1 De Agosto maintains the 4th position in Angolan league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. 1 De Agosto will need more victories to improve their 6-3 record. It's Pinto's second year at 1 De Agosto and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Joel Pinto averages this season 8.6ppg and 7.1rpg.

Second best performed player last round was Aboubacar Gakou (201-F-1997) of top-ranked Atletico Petroleos de Luanda. He is international forward in his 9th season at P.Luanda. In the last game Gakou recorded an impressive double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds. Of course he led P.Luanda to another comfortable win 86-67 over the lower-ranked Vila Clotilde (#6, 5-6) being unquestionably team leader. Of course P.Luanda still keep the league's top spot. He plays for the best team in the league and P.Luanda managed to win all 8 games keeping a perfect record. Gakou is one of the most experienced players at P.Luanda and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 23.3ppg (#1). He also registered 7.1 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to guard Carlos Sanda (SG) of Atletico Sport Aviation Luanda (#9). Sanda scored 14 points and grabbed 15 rebounds (!!!). Despite Sanda's great performance the ASA lost 79-89 to the higher-ranked 1 De Agosto (#4, 6-3). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. ASA can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 2-5 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Sanda has individually a great season in Angola. After only 6 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 8.8rpg (7th best).
