Petro de Luanda top Quimsa to earn fifth position in Singapore

Petro de Luanda - Quimsa 70-64

Petro de Luanda finished in the fifth position at the FIBA Intercontinental Cup in Singapore. They overcame Quimsa in their final game today. Aboubacar Gakou (201-F-1997) posted 20 points to pace the Angolan team.
Quimsa spurred ahead to a take a 24-11 lead after ten minutes. Petro de Luanda responded with a 24-9 push in the second period to ensure a 35-33 halftime lead. Quimsa regained the advantage in the third term. The Argentinean side entered the fourth stanza up by 4 points. But Petro de Luanda used a 19-9 rally in the final stanza to escape with the win. Patrick Gardner (211-C-1999, college: Marist) stepped up with 18 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. Nicolas Romano (200-G-1987) responded with 13 points for Quimsa.
