The Raptors land Bruno Fernando

The Toronto Raptors landed 25-year-old Angolan international 6-10 center Bruno Fernando from Maryland. He was about to sign with the Atlanta Hawks. Last season, he played for the Hawks, where in 46 NBA games he averaged 6.2ppg, 4.2rpg, and 1.0apg.
In 2019, he was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers in the second round (34th overall). He graduated from the University of Maryland, and it will be his sixth season in pro basketball.
Fernando has been a member of the Angolan international program for several years. He has played for the Angolan senior team since 2016 and previously for the Under 19 National Team in 2017.
Fernando also represented Angola at the FIBA Olympic Games Qualifying Tournament in Valencia (Spain) this year. During this event, he scored an average of 12 ppg and had 10 rpg.
He has played previously for five other teams: Boston Celtics, Houston Rockets, College Park SkyHawks, Maine Celtics, and Boston Celtics.
Fernando's team reached the NBA Semifinals in 2021. He was voted to the Big Ten All-Defensive Team during his college years in 2019.
