Point guard Childe Dundao (169-PG-1998) was Petro de Luanda's top scorer with 54 points in the Kalahari Conference of the African Basketball League, which ended on Sunday in Pretoria, South Africa. Childe Dundao, 26, is Petro de Luanda's first-choice player and the senior men's national team, and despite his short stature (1.67 metres), he was also the most effective three-point shooter of the championship with 50%. Petro's second best scorer was post Aboubakar Gakou, who scored 47 points, five more than captain Carlos Morais, followed by Yanick Moreira (208-C-1991, college: SMU) (39 pts), John Pedro (34) and Glofate (29). Of the 13 players available, only Eduardo Simao did not play. The other player who was not in the line-up is Edmir Lucas, who played two games and scored eight points. Petro de Luanda won two games and lost just as many to Cape Town Tigers and FUS Rabat respectively. The Angolan representative has qualified for the final phase, which will be held from 24 May to 1 June in Kigali, Rwanda. In the 2021 edition, which was their debut in this continental league model, Petro de Luanda came third, in 2022 second and in 2023 fourth.
