Valdelicio Joaquim claims Angolan Division I weekly honour

Experienced Former international Center Valdelicio Joaquim (208-C-1990) had a great game in the last round for Grupo Desportivo Interclube de Luanda and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 19.
The 33-year old center had the game-high 22 points adding nine rebounds and three assists for Interclube in his team's victory, helping them to outclass Akira (#11, 2-15) with 49-point margin 129-80. Interclube maintains the 3rd position in Angolan Division I. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Interclube will need more victories to improve their 15-5 record. In the team's last game Joaquim had a remarkable 80.0% from 2-point range. He turned to be Interclube's top player in his first season with the team. University of Hawaii graduate has very impressive stats this year. Joaquim is in league's top in points (7th best: 13.3ppg) and averages solid 55.0% FGP and 50.0% from behind 3-point line. Worth to mention Joaquim played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was Aristue Dala (SF) of Akiras Academy Luanda. Dala impressed basketball fans with 29 points and 5 rebounds. Bad luck as Akira lost that game 80-129 to the higher-ranked Interclube (#3, 15-5). Akira is still in a red zone at 11th spot in the standings. 15 lost games are too many comparing to just two victories Akira managed to get this year. Dala is a newcomer at Akira and despite he is not a team leader yet, every game he becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.

The third best performed player last round was Antonio Ndabililwa (SG) of Casa do Pessoal do Porto de Luanda (#4). Ndabililwa scored 24 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. He was a key player of CPPL, leading his team to a 77-67 win against slightly lower-ranked Vila Clotilde (#5, 12-8). CPPL needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 13 victories and 6 lost games. Ndabililwa has a very solid season. In 16 games in Angola he scored 14.6ppg. He also has 7.2rpg, 2.2spg and a FGP of 56.8%.
