Division I Round 19 (Regular Season): P.Luanda beat Interclube B in a derby game

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Luanda: P.Luanda (#1) and Interclube B (#8). P.Luanda (19-1) crushed visiting Interclube B (7-10) by 29 points 97-68. P.Luanda forced 22 Interclube B turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Interclube B's players. International swingman Gerson Goncalves (193-1996) fired 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. International point guard Childe Dundao (169-1998) chipped in 17 points and 8 assists. Guard Daniel Lubambeke produced 13 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. P.Luanda have an impressive series of eighteen victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 19-1 record. Interclube B at the other side keeps the eighth position with ten games lost.
Another exciting game was again a derby between two teams from Luanda: 1 De Agosto (#2) and Jesus Cristo (#7). Jesus Cristo was crushed at home by 45 points 65-110 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Elcane Paca who helped to win the game recording 27 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Marcelo Joao contributed with 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. 1 De Agosto's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. point guard Natercio Cruz (177-1998) answered with 22 points and 5 rebounds for Jesus Cristo. 1 De Agosto maintains second place with 17-3 record having just two points less than leader P.Luanda. Jesus Cristo lost their third game in a row. They keep the seventh position with 11 games lost.
The game in Clotilde was also quite interesting. Fourth ranked CPPL (13-6) played at the court of 5th ranked Vila Clotilde (12-8). CPPL defeated Vila Clotilde 77-67 on Sunday. It was a great evening for Antonio Ndabililwa who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side Valdemar Avelino responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. CPPL maintains fourth place with 13-6 record. Vila Clotilde lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the fifth position with eight games lost.

In the last two games of round 19 ASA defeated P.Luanda B in Luanda 77-76. Akira was smashed by Interclube at home 80-129.



P.Luanda B - ASA 76-77

There was a minor upset when 6th ranked P.Luanda B (9-11) was edged at home by ninth ranked ASA (7-13) 77-76 on Saturday. It was a great evening for Timoteo Txinalua who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points and 6 rebounds. Egidio Ventura (187-1990) helped adding 20 points. At the losing side the former international guard Jose Nseka (185-2005) responded with 16 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Eduardo Simao (-2004) scored 19 points. Four P.Luanda B players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for ASA. They maintain ninth place with 7-13 record. Loser P.Luanda B keeps the sixth position with 11 games lost.

Akira - Interclube 80-129

No shocking result in a game in Luanda where third ranked Interclube (15-5) smashed 11th ranked Akira (2-15) 129-80 on Saturday. Interclube dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Akira's 38 and made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Interclube forced 29 Akira turnovers and outrebounded them 51-23 including a 15-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Interclube looked well-organized offensively handing out 41 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Akira's players. It was a great evening for the former international center Valdelicio Joaquim (208-1990, college: Hawaii) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points and 9 rebounds. The former international forward Wilson Ambrosio (199-1999) helped adding 22 points and 6 rebounds. Joaquim is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Interclube players scored in double figures. Coach Apolinario Paquete's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side Aristue Dala responded with 29 points and 5 rebounds (made all of his ten free throws !!!) and point guard Jose Joveta scored 17 points and 7 rebounds. The victory was the third consecutive win for Interclube. They maintain third place with 15-5 record having four points less than leader P.Luanda. Akira lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the eleventh position with 15 games lost.

Another exciting game was again a derby between two teams from Luanda: 1 De Agosto (#2) and Jesus Cristo (#7). Jesus Cristo was crushed at home by 45 points 65-110 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. 1 De Agosto dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Jesus Cristo's 34. 1 De Agosto forced 24 Jesus Cristo turnovers and outrebounded them 62-34 including a 24-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. 1 De Agosto players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Jesus Cristo's players. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Elcane Paca who helped to win the game recording 27 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Marcelo Joao (-2004) contributed with 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four 1 De Agosto players scored in double figures. 1 De Agosto's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
