Division I Round 12 (Regular Season): Derby game ends with 1 De Agosto's defeat of Interclube

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Luanda: 1 De Agosto (#4) and Interclube (#4). 1 De Agosto (10-2) won against visiting Interclube (11-3) 101-88. 1 De Agosto shot 28 for 40 from the free-throw line, while Interclube only scored eight points from the stripe. 1 De Agosto forced 24 Interclube turnovers. It was a good game for Elcane Paca who led his team to a victory with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Gidiao Manayame contributed with 16 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. The former international forward Paulo Barros (195-1989) replied with 20 points for Interclube. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. 1 De Agosto have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Interclube at the other side dropped to the second position with three games lost. 1 De Agosto are looking forward to face CPPL (#5) in the next round. Interclube's supporters also look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Luanda to the arena Interclube B.
Division I top team - P.Luanda (13-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed tenth ranked ASA (2-11) 119-74. Worth to mention a quality performance of international point guard Childe Dundao (172-1998) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 8 assists and Gerson Goncalves who added 18 points and 8 assists during the contest. P.Luanda's coach Jose Neto felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was the former international Ngombo Rogerio (202-1995) with 29 points and 6 rebounds. P.Luanda have an impressive 12-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 13-1 record. ASA lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh place with 11 games lost. P.Luanda will play against Jesus Cristo (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. ASA will play against Vila Clotilde (#4) and hopes to get back on the winning track.

This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 13th consecutive match to seventh ranked Jesus Cristo (6-6) 97-88 on Thursday evening. The winners were led by Joseney Joaquim who had that evening a double-double by scoring 16 points, 29 rebounds and 6 assists. Even 30 points and 7 rebounds by Elizeu Ventura did not help to save the game for Kwanza. Kwanza's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Jesus Cristo moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Interclube B. Loser Kwanza still closes the standings with 13 games lost. Jesus Cristo will meet league's leader P.Luanda on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Kwanza's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Luanda P.Luanda B.

In the last two games of round 12 Akira was beaten by Interclube B on the road 67-51. CPPL won against P.Luanda B on its own court 89-73.
The most impressive performance of 12th round was 20 points by Joao Oliveira of CPPL.

Division I top team - P.Luanda (13-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed tenth ranked ASA (2-11) 119-74. P.Luanda dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to ASA's 32. P.Luanda forced 30 ASA turnovers and outrebounded them 48-36 including 18 on the offensive glass. P.Luanda players were unselfish on offense dishing 33 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by ASA's players. Worth to mention a quality performance of international point guard Childe Dundao (172-1998) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 8 assists and international swingman Gerson Goncalves (193-1996) who added 18 points and 8 assists during the contest. Four P.Luanda players scored in double figures. P.Luanda's coach Jose Neto felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Interclube B (6-6) beat 11th ranked Akira (2-9) in Luanda 67-51 on Thursday. Interclube B forced 22 Akira turnovers. The winners were led by Daniel Lubambeke who scored that evening 20 points and 9 rebounds and Edgar Simao supported him with 7 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals. Even 9 points and 13 rebounds by Gomes Lifeta did not help to save the game for Akira. Custodio Germano added 15 points. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Interclube B have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain sixth position with 6-6 record, which they share with Jesus Cristo. Akira lost ninth consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth place with nine games lost.
