Division I Round 11 (Regular Season): 1 De Agosto beat P.Luanda B in a derby game

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Luanda: 1 De Agosto (#4) and P.Luanda B (#8). 1 De Agosto (7-2) won against visiting P.Luanda B (3-7) 90-79. 1 De Agosto forced 32 P.Luanda B turnovers and outrebounded them 58-42 including a 27-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Elcane Paca who scored 24 points and 4 assists. Tiago Fernandes chipped in 15 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists and 6 steals. Eduardo Simao (-2004) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. 1 De Agosto have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 7-2 record. P.Luanda B at the other side keeps the eighth position with seven games lost. They share it with Benguela. 1 De Agosto are looking forward to face Benguela (#9) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. P.Luanda B will have a break next round.
Leader P.Luanda delivered the tenth victory. This time they crushed 9th ranked Benguela (3-7) 130-51. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Benguela. International forward Aboubacar Gakou (201-1997) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds. Keneth Gouveia contributed with 33 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field) for the winners. Jose Cabaca answered with 16 points for Benguela. Benguela's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the ninth consecutive win for P.Luanda. Defending champion maintains first place with 10-1 record. Benguela at the other side dropped to the eighth position with seven games lost. They share it with P.Luanda B. They will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Benguela will play against 1 De Agosto (#4) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Bottom-ranked Kwanza (0-10) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 136-93 loss to third ranked Vila Clotilde (9-3) in Luanda on Friday evening. It was a great evening for Adilson Ramos who led his team to a victory scoring 32 points. Manuel Bimbe responded with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Vila Clotilde maintains third place with 9-3 record behind leader P.Luanda. Kwanza lost their tenth game in a row. They still close the standings with ten games lost.

Other games of round 11 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Jesus Cristo was defeated by Interclube B in Luanda 93-75. CPPL smashed Akira at home 104-62. ASA was destroyed by Interclube on the opponent's court 111-90.

Kwanza - Vila Clotilde 93-136

Bottom-ranked Kwanza (0-10) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 136-93 loss to third ranked Vila Clotilde (9-3) in Luanda on Friday evening. They made 25-of-30 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Vila Clotilde forced 38 Kwanza turnovers and outrebounded them 65-54 including 28 on the offensive glass. Vila Clotilde looked well-organized offensively handing out 37 assists comparing to just 24 passes made by Kwanza's players. It was a great evening for point guard Adilson Ramos (179-1989) who led his team to a victory scoring 32 points. The former international forward Alexandre Jungo (201-1997) helped adding 22 points and 11 rebounds. Manuel Bimbe responded with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and Ayton Luis produced a double-double by scoring 12 points, 14 rebounds and 8 assists. Five Vila Clotilde and four Kwanza players scored in double figures. Interclube B - Jesus Cristo 93-75

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Luanda where 6th ranked Jesus Cristo (5-5) was defeated by seventh ranked Interclube B (5-4) 93-75 on Friday. Interclube B outrebounded Jesus Cristo 53-32 including a 39-27 advantage in defensive rebounds. Interclube B looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Jesus Cristo's players. It was a great evening for Daniel Lubambeke who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points. Portuguese guard Joao Cardoso (-2003) helped adding 21 points and 7 rebounds. Interclube B's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Joseney Joaquim (200-1992) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and Natercio Cruz scored 16 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Interclube B moved-up to sixth place. Jesus Cristo lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the seventh position with five games lost.

Leader P.Luanda delivered the tenth victory. This time they crushed 9th ranked Benguela (3-7) 130-51. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Benguela. P.Luanda dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Benguela's 18. They outrebounded Benguela 60-16 including a 23-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. P.Luanda players were unselfish on offense dishing 39 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Benguela's players. International forward Aboubacar Gakou (201-1997) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds. International Keneth Gouveia (198-1999) contributed with 33 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four P.Luanda players scored in double figures. No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked CPPL (6-3) smashed at home 11th ranked Akira (1-7) 104-62 on Friday. CPPL made 27-of-34 free shots (79.4 percent) during the game. They also forced 31 Akira turnovers and had a 24-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for Antonio Ndabililwa who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points and 9 rebounds. Portuguese guard Joao Oliveira (184-1996) helped adding 22 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 7 steals. Five CPPL players scored in double figures. Gomes Lifeta responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds and Jose Mambueni scored 9 points and 6 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. CPPL maintains fifth place with 6-3 record. Very expected game in Luanda where 10th ranked ASA (2-9) was rolled over by third ranked Interclube (9-2) 111-90 on Friday. Interclube forced 19 ASA turnovers and outrebounded them 54-29 including a 23-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Interclube looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for the former international forward Wilson Ambrosio (199-1999) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. The former international forward Paulo Barros (195-1989) helped adding 18 points and 5 rebounds. Adilson Vasco responded with 23 points and 7 assists and Ludgerio Galiza scored 20 points and 7 rebounds. Five Interclube and four ASA players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Interclube. They moved-up to second place. ASA lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the tenth position with nine games lost.
