The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Luanda: 1 De Agosto (#4) and P.Luanda B (#8). 1 De Agosto (7-2) won against visiting P.Luanda B (3-7) 90-79. 1 De Agosto forced 32 P.Luanda B turnovers and outrebounded them 58-42 including a 27-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Elcane Paca who scored 24 points and 4 assists. Tiago Fernandes chipped in 15 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists and 6 steals. Eduardo Simao (-2004) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. 1 De Agosto have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 7-2 record. P.Luanda B at the other side keeps the eighth position with seven games lost. Keneth Gouveia contributed with 33 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field) for the winners. Jose Cabaca answered with 16 points for Benguela. Benguela's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the ninth consecutive win for P.Luanda. Defending champion maintains first place with 10-1 record. Benguela at the other side dropped to the eighth position with seven games lost. They share it with P.Luanda B. They will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Benguela will play against 1 De Agosto (#4) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Bottom-ranked Kwanza (0-10) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 136-93 loss to third ranked Vila Clotilde (9-3) in Luanda on Friday evening. It was a great evening for Adilson Ramos who led his team to a victory scoring 32 points. Manuel Bimbe responded with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
