Benfica inks Artemis Barbosa

Sport Lisboa Benfica (Liga Feminina) signed 30-year old Angolan-Portuguese international power forward Artemis Barbosa (175cm-1993) for upcoming 2023-24 season. Barbosa has played for the last two years at Castello in Spanish LF2 league. In 27 games she had 8.8ppg, 6.0rpg and 1.4apg last season. She helped them to end the regular season as a second best team in the league.
Barbosa also represented Angola at the African Championship in Yaounde (Cameroon) eight years ago. Her team got to the Semifinals and her stats at that event were 4 games: 3.5ppg.
She has played previously professionally in Spain (Aviles) and Portugal (Olivais, Alges, Quinta dos Lombos, Carnide and Imortal). Barbosa's team won Portuguese Federation Cup in 2017 and 2020. Barbosa was voted to Eurobasket.com All-Portuguese League Honorable Mention back in 2018 and 2019.
