Guinea shocked Angola 71-69 and reached Quarterfinals of the AfroBasket 2023. They grabbed a 17-15 lead after 10 minutes and led 3 points at the halftime. Angola bounced back with a 23-12 surge in the third quarter, however could not win the game. Guinea replied with a 26-16 rally in the last stanza to take the ticket to the Quarterfinals.
Masseny Kaba (191-F-1998, college: UCF) top-scored for the winners with 26 points and 14 rebounds, whilst Aicha Mara (177-G/F-1996) netted 11. Cristina Matiquite (191-C-1992) answered with 21 points and 11 rebounds, while Sara Caetano (172-SG-2003) notched 19.
