Desportivo 1. De Agosto Luanda (D1) signed experienced 34-year old Mozambique international forward Odelia Mafanela (181cm-1989) for upcoming 2023-24 season. Mafanela played last summer at CFM Ferroviaro Maputo in Mozambican D1 league. She has played there for the last seven years.
Mafanela has been also a member of Mozambique international program for some years. She has regularly played for Mozambique senior team since 2009 and previously for U20 National Team back in 2006.
Mafanela represented Mozambique at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast (Australia) five years ago. Her stats at that event were 4 games: 11.0ppg, 5.0rpg, 1.0apg, Steals-2 (2.8spg), FGP: 37.5%, FT: 66.7%.
She has played also professionally in Desportivo Maputo. Mafanela won Mozambique League championship title in 2008 and 2011 and the cup in 2012, 2018 and 2019.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others she was voted to Afrobasket.com All-African Champions Cup Honorable Mention back in 2017.
