Grupo Desportivo Interclube de Luanda inks Xavier Gibson, ex Agua Prieta

Xavier Gibson

Grupo-Desportivo-Interclube-de-Luanda (Division I) signed experienced 34-year old American power forward Xavier Gibson (210cm-104kg-1988, college: FSU). Gibson played last summer at Vaqueros de Agua Prieta in Mexican LBE league. He managed to play in three leagues in three countries last year. In 7 LBE games he had 14.1ppg, 8.0rpg and 1.0apg. Gibson helped them to make it to the Mexican LBE final. He ended the last season at Ohod in Saudi Arabian SBL where in only one game he recorded 15 points, 14 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal. But the most of that year he spent at Trouville in Uruguayan LUB. In 7 games he averaged 13.4ppg, 7.4rpg, 1.4apg, 1.0spg and 1.3bpg.
Gibson has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2014.
He is quite experienced player. Gibson has played on four different continents (Europe, Asia, Latin America and of course North America). He has played previously professionally in Greece (Panelefsiniakos), Japan (Alvark Tokyo, Niigata Albirex, Osaka Evessa and Shinshu Brave Warriors Nagano), Turkey and NBA G League (Lakeland Magic).
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others he was voted Asia-Basket.com All-Japanese BJ League Defensive Player of the Year back in 2016.
Gibson graduated from Florida State University in 2012 and it will be his eleventh (!!!) season as a professional player.
