Defending champion Atletico Petroleos de Luanda (Division I) added to their roster experienced 35-year old Ivorian point guard Mouloukou Diabate (183cm-76kg-1987, agency: Interperformances) for new 2022-23 season. Diabate played last season at Al Ittihad in Libyan D1 league. Quite impressive season as he was voted to Afrobasket.com All-Libyan League Second Team. He also played for US Monastir in Tunisian league that season where in 6 Basketball Africa League games he recorded 8.3ppg, 2.7rpg, 3.8apg and 1.2spg.
Diabate has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2016.
He represented Ivory Coast at the Afrobasket Championship five years ago. His stats at that event were 3 games: 6.3ppg, 2.3rpg, 2.0apg, 1.7spg, FGP: 43.8%, 3PT: 14.3%, FT: 50.0%.
Diabate is quite experienced player. Diabate's career allowed him to visit three different continents, while he played in five different countries. He tasted the life as pro basketball player in Europe, Asia and Africa. Diabate has played previously professionally in China (Anhui Putianxingfa), France (Gravelines Dunkerque, Chalons Reims, Chorale de Roanne, Sluc Nancy and Provence Basket), Slovakia (Levice), North Macedonia (MZT Skopje) and Egypt (Zamalek and Somouha).
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others he was selected to Eurobasket.com All-Slovakian League Honorable Mention back in 2018.
On Diabate: A true 'Mr Consistency' when he's on the court. He's a terrific ball handler, passes the ball very well and can score both inside and from the perimeter. Also, he defends hard and he set up his teammates.
