Benfica quit national basketball championship

Benfica do Lubango senior women's basketball team have quit the National Championship to be held from July 8 to August 5, due to technical and financial motives. The announcement was made Tuesday by the club's president, Jacques da Conceicao, who alleged "technical-sportive aspects and financial problems". The club's president said the team need at least five million kwanzas to cover expenses with accommodation, transportation, food, among other expenses. He added that although it is a tough situation, that's the reality of the club now, in a time when there are no sponsors. He recalled that in 2021, year of the creation and debut of the team, the team particiupated in the championship thanks to the support of the Angolan Basketball Federation and the Provincial Government of Huila. 1. de Agosto are the defending champions.
