Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Angolans who are currently playing abroad.
#1. This week's number one is former international forward
Julio De Assis (203-92, agency:
Duran International, currently plays in Iceland). He was the major contributor in
Vestri's victory against the closely-ranked IR (3-8)
78-77 in the Icelandic Subway League in Friday night's game.
De Assis had a double-double by scoring 23 points and getting 13 rebounds. He also added 5 assists in 36 minutes on the court.
Vestri (2-10) is placed second from the bottom (#11) in the Subway League.
De Assis has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 16.8ppg, 9.4rpg, 3.3apg, 1.3spg, 2FGP: 52.2%, 3FGP: 35.2% and FT: 71.1% in 11 games he played so far.
De Assis has a dual citizenship: Angolan and Spanish.
He played for the Angolan senior national team four years ago.
#2. Second place goes to an experienced former international power forward
Antonio Monteiro (204-89, currently plays in Portugal). Monteiro managed to help Sporting Clube de Portugal Lisboa to win against one of league's weakest teams Illiabum (3-12)
85-75 in the Portuguese LPB last Sunday.
He recorded only 3 points.
Sporting Clube de Portugal Lisboa (14-2) is placed first in the LPB.
It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row.
It's Monteiro's first season with the team.
Monteiro's overall stats this year are: 8.5ppg, 4.6rpg, 1.5apg, 2FGP: 57.7%(15-26), 3FGP: 35.9% and FT: 64.7%.
He is another player who holds two passports: Angolan and Portuguese.
Monteiro played for the Angolan national team in 2014.
#3. The Angolan player who performed third best last week abroad was an international center
Bruno Fernando (208-98, college:
Maryland, currently plays in NBA). He could not help the
Boston Celtics (22-22) to beat the Philadelphia 76ers (25-17). It was not Fernando's best game last Friday.
He scored only 2 points in 3 minutes on the court.
The Boston Celtics (22-22) lost
99-111 on the road to the 76ers.
This year Fernando averages just 0.7ppg, 2FGP: 66.7% and FT: 66.7% in 14 games.
He is also a member of the Angolan senior national team.
#4. Forward
Silvio de Sousa (206-98, currently plays college basketball in the States) led
Chattanooga to a 2-point victory against the Furman University (4-2)
71-69 in the NCAA in Saturday night's game.
de Sousa recorded 11 points and grabbed 7 rebounds.
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga has 4-1 conference record this season.
de Sousa has relatively good stats this year: 12.3ppg, 7.5rpg and 1.6bpg.
He is also Angolan national team player.
#5. International guard
Selton Miguel (193-0, currently studies in the States) contributed to an
Kansas St.'s victory against the Texas Tech University (3-2)
62-51 in the NCAA on Saturday night.
Miguel recorded 6 points and added 3 passes.
The University of Kansas State has 1-4 conference record this season.
Miguel's overall stats this year are: 8.4ppg, 5.1rpg and 1.8apg.
He plays currently for the Angolan national team.
#6. Guard
Jaques Conceicao (190-89, currently plays in Portugal) was not able to help one of league's weakest teams
Lusitania in their game against Oliveirense (9-6) in the Portuguese LPB. Conceicao cannot count it as his best performance.
He recorded only 3 points in 15 minutes.
Lusitania lost
73-88 in Oliveira to the higher-ranked (#4) Oliveirense.
This year Conceicao's overall stats are: 4.5ppg, 2.1rpg and 1.1apg in 14 games.
He is an international player who is currently on the senior Angolan National Team roster.
#7. Former U18 international guard
Gil Silva (185-0, currently plays in Portugal) led
Academia to a 1-point victory against the eighth-ranked Olhanense (2-9)
70-69 in the Portuguese Proliga (second division) on Saturday night.
Silva scored 13 points, had 5 rebounds and made 2 blocks in 21 minutes.
Academia do Lumiar Lisboa (2-9) is placed seventh in South group.
They ended the series of four consecutive loses.
There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical.
This year Silva's total stats are: 3.4ppg and 2.8rpg in 11 games.
He used to play for the Angolan U18 national team
four years ago.
#8. Guard
Eric Amandio (190-98, currently plays in NAIA) contributed to an
Oklahoma City University's victory against the Texas Wesleyan University (4-3)
80-72 in the NAIA last Thursday.
He scored 7 points, had 5 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 23 minutes.
The Oklahoma City University has a solid 5-2 record this season.
Amandio has averaged so far 2.4ppg, 2.0rpg and 1.2apg in nine games.
He plays currently for the Angolan national team.
#9. International guard
Joshua Kashila (190, currently plays in NAIA) led
SW Assemblies of God University to an easy victory against the Oklahoma Panhandle State University (3-4)
86-68 in the NAIA on Thursday night.
Kashila recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points and getting 11 rebounds. He also added 3 assists.
The SW Assemblies of God University has quite an impressive 7-1 record this season.
Kashila is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fifth year in SW Assemblies of God University's roster.
This season Kashila has very high stats. He averages: 17.6ppg, 6.8rpg, 3.5apg and 1.2spg.
Kashila is also in the roster of the Angolan national team.

Benedito Suca (196-F-84, currently plays in Portugal) could not help
Academia (2-9) in their last game. Despite Suca's very good performance the seventh-placed Academia (2-9) lost
73-77 at home to the higher-ranked (#4) NB Queluz in the South group.
He was the second best scorer with 19 points. Suca also added 8 rebounds in 29 minutes.
It was Academia's fourth consecutive loss in a row.
There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical.
Suca is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his 11th year in Academia's roster.
This season he has relatively solid stats: 11.0ppg and 6.0rpg in six games he played so far.
#2. Eduardo Andre (208-C-1, currently plays college basketball in the States) was not able to help the
Nebraska in their game against the Purdue University (3-2) in the NCAA.
Andre scored 5 points.
The Nebraska was crushed
92-65 on their home court in Lincoln by the Purdue University.
So far Nebraska lost all seven games in the conference Andre's total stats this season are: 3.6ppg and 3.3rpg.
He has a dual citizenship: Angolan and British.
#3. Jose Tonet (C-99, currently plays in Portugal) was not able to secure a victory for
Sampaense (3-8) in their game against Electrico FC (4-8) in the Portuguese Proliga (second division).
Tonet scored 5 points and grabbed 4 rebounds.
The seventh-placed Sampaense (3-8) was defeated
79-66 on the road by the higher-ranked Electrico FC (#5) in the North group.
It was Sampaense's fifth consecutive loss in a row.

Tonet has averaged so far 5.6ppg and 4.6rpg.
