We bring you last week's top performances from Angolans who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is an international center Yanick Moreira (211-91, agency: BeoBasket, college: SMU, currently plays in FIBA Europe Cup). He was the major contributor in Peristeri's victory against the closely-ranked Tsmoki-Minsk (2-2) 80-70 in the FIBA Europe Cup in Wednesday night's game. Moreira recorded 12 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocks in 23 minutes on the court. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Peristeri GS Athens (2-2) is placed third in the FIBA Europe Cup. There are only two games left until the end of the FIBA Europe Cup Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. It's Moreira's first season with the team. This year he averages: 8.3ppg, 5.5rpg, 1.8apg, 2FGP: 48.0% and FT: 42.9% in four games he played so far. Moreira is currently a member of the Angolan senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to former international power forward Antonio Monteiro (204-89, currently plays in Portugal). He led Sporting to a victory against the closely-ranked Lusitania (5-2) 89-83 in the Portuguese LPB last Saturday. Monteiro recorded 14 points. Sporting Clube de Portugal Lisboa (5-1) is placed third in the LPB. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Monteiro's overall stats this year are: 8.8ppg, 5.0rpg, 2FGP: 54.5%, 3FGP: 40.7% and FT: 66.7%. He has a dual citizenship: Angolan and Portuguese. Despite Monteiro played previously for the Portuguese U20 national team, he played also for the Angolan national team in 2014.

The Angolan player who performed third best last week abroad was an international guard Jaques Conceicao (190-89, currently plays in Portugal) faced previously mentioned Antonio Monteiro in the Portuguese LPB last game. Conceicao. He could not help Lusitania (5-2) to beat Sporting (5-1). Conceicao recorded 9 points in only 14 minutes. But Lusitania lost 83-89 at home to the higher-ranked (#3) Sporting. But the season just started, so everything may happen. This year Conceicao's overall stats are: 3.7ppg, 2.3rpg, 2FGP: 46.2% and FT: 66.7% in seven games. Ex-Desportivo 1. De Agosto Luanda player is also a member of the Angolan senior national team.

   #4. Forward Julio De Assis (203-92, agency: Duran International, currently plays in Iceland) was not able to help Vestri (1-4) in their last game on Thursday. Despite his very good performance Vestri was defeated 87-75 on their home court in Isafjordur by the higher-ranked KR (#5). De Assis was the top scorer with 19 points. He also added 7 rebounds. But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen. De Assis has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 15.4ppg, 9.0rpg and 2.2apg. De Assis is another player who holds two passports: Angolan and Spanish. He used to play for the Angolan national team back in 2018.

   #5. An experienced former U18 international guard Gil Silva (185-0, currently plays in Portugal) was not able to secure a victory for the league outsider Academia (0-5) in their game against Olhanense (2-3) in the Portuguese Proliga (second division). Silva cannot count it as his best performance. He scored only one point and grabbed 4 rebounds in 7 minutes on the court. The eighth-placed Academia (0-5) was crushed 87-41 on their home court in Lisbon by the higher-ranked (#5) Olhanense in the South group. So far Academia lost all five games in the Regular Season. This year Silva's total stats are: 1.0ppg and 2.0rpg in five games. He has both Angolan and Portuguese nationalities. Silva used to play for the Angolan U18 national team three years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Angolan passport but never been selected to any of Angolan national teams:

   #1. Jose Tonet (C-99, currently plays in Portugal). Tonet could not help Sampaense (2-3) to beat Electrico FC (2-3). He scored 5 points in 13 minutes. The seventh-placed Sampaense (2-3) was badly defeated 90-73 at home by the higher-ranked (#5) Electrico FC in the North group. This year Tonet's total stats are: 6.4ppg and 4.6rpg in five games he played so far.

   #2. Experienced Benedito Suca (196-F-84, currently plays in Portugal) was not able to help the league outsider Academia in their game against Olhanense (2-3) in the Portuguese Proliga (second division). He was the second best scorer with 6 points. Suca also added 12 rebounds. The eighth-placed Academia (0-5) was crushed 87-41 on their home court in Lisbon by the higher-ranked Olhanense (#5) in the South group. So far Academia lost all five games in the Regular Season. Suca has been at the team for eleven years. His total stats this season are: 4.0ppg and 6.0rpg.

   #3. Fabio Galiano (202-PF-97, currently plays in Germany) managed to help TSV Neustadt temps Shooters to win against the leader Berlin BG 2000 (6-2) 62-54 in the German Regionalliga (fourth division) last Saturday. He scored only 2 points. in group North. TSV Neustadt temps Shooters (3-4) is placed eighth. It was his team's first victory after three consecutive loses. But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen. Galiano has averaged so far 5.5ppg and 5.0rpg.

   #4. Cesar Carapinha (183-G-87, currently plays in Finland) was not able to secure a victory for the league outsider Pantterit in their game against Pyrinto Ak.B (1-3) in the Finnish 1st Division (second division). He recorded 5 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 30 minutes. His team was badly defeated 82-62 on their home court in Helsinki by the much lower-ranked (#7) Pyrinto Ak.B in the Division B-A. Carapinha has averaged so far 3.0ppg, 3.7rpg, 2.7apg and 3.0spg in three games.
