YANICK MOREIRA
We bring you last week's top performances from Angolans who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

Yanick Moreira
Yanick Moreira
#1. This week's number one is an international center Yanick Moreira (211-91, college: SMU, currently plays in Basketball Champions League). He could not help Virtus Bologna (9-4) in their last game. Despite Moreira's good performance the first-placed Virtus Bologna (9-4) was edged 83-80 on the road by the lower-ranked (#6) SIG Strasbourg in the group D of Basketball Champions League. He recorded 14 points, 5 rebounds and 2 blocks in 28 minutes on the court. Moreira's team will play only one more game in the Basketball Champions League Regular Season. And that game will be critical. This year Moreira averages: 6.7ppg, 4.3rpg, 2FGP: 53.3% and FT: 57.1% in three games he played so far. He is currently a member of the Angolan senior national team.

Carlos Morais
Carlos Morais
#2. Second place goes to an experienced international guard Carlos Morais (200-85, agency: Duran International, currently plays in Italy). Morais was not able to help Mens Sana 1871 (10-10) in their last game on Thursday. Despite his very good performance Mens Sana 1871 (#11) was defeated 89-84 in Latina by the much higher-ranked Benacquista LT (#4) in the West group. Morais was the second best scorer with 15 points. He also added 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Morais has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 15.6ppg, 5.8rpg, 3.3apg, 2FGP: 46.4%, 3FGP: 38.9% and FT: 87.5%. Morais has a dual citizenship: Angolan and Portuguese. He is in the roster of the Angolan senior national team.

Bruno Fernando
Bruno Fernando
#3. The Angolan player who performed third best last week abroad was former international forward Bruno Fernando (208-98, currently plays college basketball in the States). Fernando led Maryland to an easy victory against the Northwestern University (4-3) 70-52 in the NCAA on Tuesday night. He had a double-double by scoring 22 points and getting 10 rebounds in 30 minutes. The University of Maryland has quite an impressive - conference record this season. Fernando has relatively good stats this year: 14.9ppg, 10.3rpg, 2.0apg, 2.0bpg, 2FGP: 68.3%(123-180), 3FGP: 25.0% and FT: 76.8% in 22 games. He played for the Angolan national team three years ago.

Jaques Conceicao
Jaques Conceicao

Conceicao scored 8 points. Sport Lisboa Benfica (16-1) is placed first in the LPB. Conceicao's overall stats this season are: 3.4ppg, 1.3rpg and 1.1apg. He is also Angolan national team player.

#5. He scored 13 points and had 3 steals. Electrico FC (6-10) is placed fourth in Group B. They ended the series of six consecutive loses. It's Miguel's first season with the team. Miguel's overall stats this year are: 9.8ppg, 4.1rpg and 1.3spg. He used to play for the Angolan university national team twelve years ago.

Valdelicio Joaquim
Valdelicio Joaquim

Center Valdelicio Joaquim (208-90, also represented by Duran International, college: Hawaii, currently plays in France) was not able to secure a victory for one of league's weakest teams Quimper UJAP (6-10) in their game against ALM Evreux (7-10) in the French ProB (second division). Joaquim scored 8 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in 30 minutes. Quimper UJAP lost 68-73 in Evreux to the higher-ranked (#13) ALM Evreux. This year Joaquim has relatively solid stats: 13.3ppg, 7.8rpg and 1.1apg in 16 games. He is a former international player as he played for the Angolan senior team two years ago.

Antonio Monteiro
Antonio Monteiro
#7. Former international forward Antonio Monteiro (204-89, currently plays in Portugal) couldn't help one of league's weakest teams FC Porto (12-5) in their game against Oliveirense (16-1) in the Portuguese LPB. He cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. Monteiro scored only one point in 8 minutes on the court. FC Porto lost 80-93 in Oliveira to the second-ranked Oliveirense. It was FC Porto's first loss after seven consecutive victories. This year Monteiro's overall stats are: 4.7ppg and 4.7rpg in 15 games. He used to play for the Angolan national team five years ago.

The list of other players, who all have Angolan passport but never been selected to any of Angolan national teams:

It's Suca's eighth season with the team. This year Suca has relatively solid stats: 11.7ppg, 5.4rpg and 1.1apg in 15 games he played so far.

#2. Edson Ferreira (183-G-86, currently plays in Portugal). Ferreira could not help Electrico FC (6-10) to beat Dragon Force (6-10). He recorded 6 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Electrico FC (#4) was crushed 96-56 on the road by the higher-ranked Dragon Force (#3) in the Group B. It was Electrico FC's sixth consecutive loss in a row. Ferreira's overall stats this season are: 4.6ppg, 2.5rpg and 2.2apg.

#3. Fabio Galiano (202-PF-97, currently plays in Germany) was not able to help Itzehoe in their game against SSV Lok Bernau (12-7) in the German ProB (third division). Galiano cannot count Sunday's game as one of the best ones. He recorded only 2 points. Itzehoe (#9) was defeated 86-71 in Bernau by the higher-ranked SSV Lok (#3) in the North group.
