YANICK MOREIRA

Virtus Segafredo Bologna (Serie A) tabbed 27-year old Angolan international center Yanick Moreira (211-100kg-91, college: SMU). He started the season at PAOK Thessaloniki in Greek A1 league. In 11 games he averaged 9.0ppg and 5.7rpg this season. Moreira also played 9 games in Basketball Champions League where he had 11.9ppg and 6.0rpg. The last season he played at Parma in Russian league. In 21 VTB United League games he recorded 9.2ppg, 6.2rpg and 1.2apg.
Moreira has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2016.
Among other achievements he won D-League championship title in 2017. Moreira received also All-AAC Most Improved Player of the Year award and NABC All-District 25 2nd Team award back in 2015 at his college time.
Moreira has been also a member of Angolan international program for some years. He has regularly played for Angolan senior team since 2010 and previously for U19 National Team in 2009.
Moreira represented Angola at the Afrobasket Championships two years ago. His stats at that event were 4 games: 6.5ppg, 5.3rpg, 1.0apg, FGP: 26.7%, FT: 55.6%.
Moreira is a very experienced player. And here thanks to pro basketball he experienced life in five different countries playing on three different continents. He is familiar with European, Asian and of course North American leagues. Moreira has played previously professionally in France (SPO Rouen), Iran (Naft Abadan), Spain (UCAM Murcia), NBA (Brooklyn Nets and Toronto Raptors) and NBA G League (Raptors 905 Missisauga).
He attended Southern Methodist University until 2015 and it is his fourth season in pro basketball.
Let's have closer look into Moreira's outlook: A young center who protects the rim and grabs lots of rebounds. He is improving his ball handling, can score the ball with either hand and is expecte to become a top level player very soon.
