Here is the weekly review of the top performing Angolan players, who play currently abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is an international center Yanick Moreira (211-91, college: SMU, currently plays in Basketball Champions League). He could not help PAOK (5-4) in their last game. Despite Moreira's very good performance PAOK was badly defeated 94-77 on the road by the lower-ranked (#6) Telekom Baskets. He had a double-double by scoring 20 points and getting 12 rebounds in 31 minutes on the court. Moreira has relatively good stats this year: 11.9ppg, 6.0rpg, 2FGP: 62.5%(45-72) and FT: 58.6% in nine games he played so far. He is currently a member of the Angolan senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an experienced international guard Carlos Morais (200-85, agency: Duran International, currently plays in Italy). Morais was not able to help Mens Sana 1871 (7-6) in their last game on Sunday. Despite his very good performance the tenth-placed Mens Sana 1871 (7-6) was defeated 93-78 in Capo d'Orlando by the higher-ranked Benfapp CdO (#6) in the West group. Morais was the second best scorer with 18 points. He also added 6 rebounds and dished 7 assists. It's Morais' first season with the team. Morais has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 16.7ppg, 5.8rpg, 3.0apg, 2FGP: 47.0%, 3FGP: 43.4% and FT: 88.5%. Morais has a dual citizenship: Angolan and Portuguese. He is in the roster of the Angolan senior national team.

   #3. The Angolan player who performed third best last week abroad was former international forward Bruno Fernando (208-98, currently plays college basketball in the States), who plays in the NCAA. Fernando was not able to secure a victory for the Maryland (1-1) in their last game. Despite his very good performance his team lost 74-78 in South Orange to the Seton Hall University. Fernando had a double-double by scoring 19 points and getting 10 rebounds. He also added 4 assists and 3 blocks in 36 minutes. This year Fernando has relatively solid stats: 14.2ppg, 9.4rpg, 1.4apg, 2.6bpg, 2FGP: 71.0%(66-93), 3FGP: 25.0% and FT: 71.4% in 12 games. He played for the Angolan national team two years ago.

Julio De Assis

   #4. Center Julio De Assis (203-92, currently plays in Spain) led Univ.Burgos to a victory over the third-ranked Pas Pielagos (8-3) 96-87 in the Spanish EBA (fourth division) in Sunday night's game. De Assis was MVP of the game. He scored 30 points (!!!), grabbed 9 rebounds and dished 3 assists. It was the game of the round between two top 3 ranked teams in Group A-A. CB Universidad de Burgos (10-1) is placed first. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. This season De Assis has very high stats. He averages: 19.4ppg, 8.8rpg, 2.7apg and 1.5spg. De Assis is another player who holds two passports: Angolan and Spanish. He is also Angolan national team player.

Antonio Monteiro

   #5. Former international forward Antonio Monteiro (204-89, currently plays in Portugal) contributed to an easy victory against the tenth-ranked CAB Madeira (4-7) crushing them 95-70 in the Portuguese LPB last Saturday. Monteiro scored 9 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in only 10 minutes. FC Porto (7-4) is placed third in the LPB. This year Monteiro's overall stats are: 5.1ppg and 5.1rpg in nine games. He has both Angolan and Portuguese nationalities. Despite Monteiro played previously for the Portuguese U20 national team, he is currently in the Angolan national team roster.

   #6. Center Valdelicio Joaquim (208-90, also represented by Duran International, college: Hawaii, currently plays in France) couldn't help Quimper UJAP (3-7) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Joaquim's very good performance Quimper UJAP was defeated 76-68 on the opponent's court by the higher-ranked Nantes (#9). He was the second best scorer with 17 points. Joaquim also added 9 rebounds and dished 3 assists. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Joaquim has reliable stats this year: 13.6ppg and 6.6rpg. He is international player as he played for the Angolan senior team one years ago.

   #7. International guard Jaques Conceicao (190-89, currently plays in Portugal) managed to help Sport Lisboa Benfica in a victory against the league outsider Illiabum (2-9) 71-64 in the Portuguese LPB in Saturday night's game. Conceicao scored only 4 points in 16 minutes. Sport Lisboa Benfica (11-0) is placed first in the LPB. So far his team won all eleven games in the Regular Season. This year Conceicao's total stats are: 3.0ppg and 1.5rpg in eight games. He is also Angolan national team player.

   #8. Guard Edmir Lucas (191-93, currently plays in United Kingdom) couldn't help London CR (5-5) in their game against Plymouth Raiders (6-6) in the British BBL. Lucas recorded 6 points. London CR was defeated 84-77 in Plymouth by the higher-ranked Raiders (#6). But the season just started, so everything may happen. Lucas has averaged so far 9.5ppg, 3.3rpg and 3.6apg. He used to play for the Angolan national team last year.

   #9. Former University international forward Jose Miguel (185-85, currently plays in Portugal) couldn't help Electrico FC (5-6) in their game against Barreirense (11-0) in the Portuguese Proliga (second division). He scored 5 points. Electrico FC (#4) was defeated 77-69 in Barreiro by the leading Barreirense in the South group. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Miguel has averaged so far 7.5ppg and 3.3rpg. He used to play for the Angolan university national team eleven years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Angolan passport but never been selected to any of Angolan national teams:

   #1. Edson Ferreira (183-G-86, currently plays in Portugal) could not help Electrico FC (5-6) in their last game. Despite Ferreira's good performance Electrico FC (#4) lost 69-77 on the road to the leading Barreirense in the South group. He scored 10 points and added 4 assists in 29 minutes. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Ferreira has averaged so far 4.3ppg, 1.4rpg and 1.5apg in eight games he played so far.

   #2. Experienced Sergio Correia (198-F-85, currently plays in Portugal) managed to help Imortal BC Albufeira to win against the fifth-ranked Lusitania (6-5) 87-81 in the Portuguese LPB in Saturday night's game. He scored 5 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Imortal BC Albufeira (3-8) is placed tenth in the LPB. Correia's stats this season are: 10.1ppg, 4.4rpg and 1.1apg.

   #3. Benedito Suca (196-F-84, currently plays in Portugal) contributed to an easy victory against the seventh-ranked Sport Lisboa Benfica B (3-8) crushing them 87-67 in a derby game in the Portuguese Proliga (second division) last Wednesday. He scored 10 points, grabbed 9 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 33 minutes. Academia do Lumiar Lisboa (8-3) is placed third in South group. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Suca is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his eighth year in Academia's roster. Suca's stats this season are: 13.0ppg, 5.7rpg and 1.3apg in 11 games.

   #4. Fernando Mussongo (198-F-96, currently plays in Switzerland) was not able to help Lugano Tigers in their game against Starwings (2-10) in the Swiss SBL. Mussongo cannot count Sunday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only one point in 12 minutes. Lugano Tigers lost 64-68 in Basel to the league outsider (#11) Starwings. Mussongo has averaged so far 1.5ppg and 2.1rpg in 11 games. He has a dual citizenship: Angolan and Swiss.

   #5. Paulo Sopita (203-PF-93, currently plays in Japan) was not able to secure a victory for Iwate Big Bulls (5-19) in their game against Koshigaya Alphas (20-4) in the Japanese B League D3. Sopita cannot count Sunday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only 2 points. Iwate Big Bulls were crushed 87-63 at home by the second-ranked Koshigaya Alphas. Sopita has averaged so far 1.2ppg and 2.9rpg.

   #6. Fabio Galiano (202-PF-97, currently plays in Germany) couldn't help Itzehoe in their game against SparkassenStars in the German ProB (third division). He cannot count Sunday's game as one of the best ones. Galiano scored only one point in 12 minutes. His team was edged 79-76. Galiano has averaged so far 4.6ppg and 3.6rpg in 13 games.
