Here is the weekly review of the top performing Angolan players, who play currently abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is an international center Yanick Moreira (211-91, college: SMU, currently plays in Basketball Champions League). He led his Greek team PAOK to a 1-point victory against the closely-ranked Umana Venezia (5-3) 77-76 in the Basketball Champions League in Wednesday night's game. Moreira scored 14 points in only a mere 14 minutes on the court. PAOK Thessaloniki (5-3) is placed 12th in the Basketball Champions League. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. It's Moreira's first season with the team. He has relatively good stats this year: 10.9ppg, 5.3rpg, 2FGP: 62.1%(36-58) and FT: 65.2% in eight games he played so far. Moreira is currently a member of the Angolan senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an experienced international guard Carlos Morais (200-85, agency: Duran International, currently plays in Italy). He could not help Mens Sana 1871 (7-5) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Morais' very good performance the ninth-placed Mens Sana 1871 (7-5) was defeated 93-78 on the road by the higher-ranked Benfapp CdO (#6) in the West group. He was the second best scorer with 18 points. Morais also added 6 rebounds and dished 7 assists. Morais has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 16.5ppg, 5.8rpg, 2.6apg, 2FGP: 47.3%, 3FGP: 44.3% and FT: 86.4%. Morais has a dual citizenship: Angolan and Portuguese. He is in the roster of the Angolan senior national team.

Edmir Lucas

   #3. The Angolan player who performed third best last week abroad was an international guard Edmir Lucas (191-93, currently plays in United Kingdom). Lucas contributed to a London CR's victory against the closely-ranked Glasgow Rocks (4-8) 84-70 in the British BBL on Sunday night. He scored 8 points and added 5 assists in 22 minutes. London City Royals (5-5) is placed eighth in the BBL. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. This year Lucas' overall stats are: 9.5ppg, 3.3rpg, 3.6apg, 2FGP: 38.5% and FT: 66.7% in eight games. He is another player who holds two passports: Portuguese and Angolan. Former Desportivo 1. De Agosto Luanda starter played for the Angolan national team one years ago.

   #4. Forward Bruno Fernando (208-98, currently plays college basketball in the States) led Maryland to an easy victory against the Loyola College crushing them 94-71 in the NCAA in Tuesday night's game. Fernando scored 11 points, had 5 boards, handed out 3 passes and blocked 4 shots. The University of Maryland has 1-1 conference record this season. This year Fernando has relatively solid stats: 13.7ppg, 9.4rpg, 1.2apg and 2.5bpg. He used to play for the Angolan national team back in 2016.

   #5. International center Julio De Assis (203-92, currently plays in Spain) led Univ.Burgos to a victory over the eighth-ranked Santurtzi (5-5) 84-65 in the Spanish EBA (fourth division) last Saturday. De Assis was MVP of the game. He had a double-double by scoring 18 points and getting 12 rebounds. De Assis also added 3 assists and 2 blocks in 38 minutes. CB Universidad de Burgos (9-1) is placed first in Group A-A. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. De Assis has very impressive stats this year: 19.4ppg, 8.8rpg, 2.7apg and 1.5spg in 10 games. He has both Angolan and Spanish nationalities. De Assis plays currently for the Angolan national team.

   #6. Forward Jose Miguel (185-85, currently plays in Portugal) was not able to help Electrico FC in their game against Academia (7-3) in the Portuguese Proliga (second division). He scored 8 points, had 8 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 36 minutes. Electrico FC (#4) lost 71-79 in Lisbona to the higher-ranked (#3) Academia in the South group. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This year Miguel's total stats are: 8.5ppg, 4.0rpg, 1.3apg and 1.3spg in four games. He is a former university international player as he played for the Angolan team eleven years ago.

   #7. International center Valdelicio Joaquim (208-90, also represented by Duran International, college: Hawaii, currently plays in France) was not able to secure a victory for Quimper UJAP (3-6) in their last game on Friday. Despite Joaquim's good performance Quimper UJAP was edged 81-80 in Orleans by the second-ranked Entente 45. He scored 12 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. But the season just started, so everything may happen. Joaquim has reliable stats this year: 13.2ppg and 6.3rpg. He used to play for the Angolan national team last year.


The list of other players, who all have Angolan passport but never been selected to any of Angolan national teams:

   #1. Edson Ferreira (183-G-86, currently plays in Portugal) could not help Electrico FC (5-5) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his very good performance Electrico FC (#4) was edged 77-75 at home by the lower-ranked Angrabasket (#5) in the South group. Ferreira was the second best scorer with 15 points. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Ferreira's total stats this season are: 1.5ppg and 1.7rpg.

   #2. Experienced Benedito Suca (196-F-84, currently plays in Portugal) led Academia to a victory against the sixth-ranked Ginasio (4-6) 82-75 in the Portuguese Proliga (second division) on Saturday night. Suca recorded 16 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 45 minutes. Academia do Lumiar Lisboa (7-3) is placed third in South group. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Suca is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his eighth year in Academia's roster. His stats this season are: 13.3ppg, 5.4rpg and 1.1apg in 10 games he played so far.

   #3. Sergio Correia (198-F-85, currently plays in Portugal) was not able to help Imortal in their game against Terceira (5-5) in the Portuguese LPB. Correia cannot count Friday's game as one of the best ones. He recorded only 3 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. The bottom-ranked Imortal was defeated 99-90 on their home court in Albufeira by the higher-ranked Terceira (#7). It was Imortal's third consecutive loss in a row. Correia's stats this season are: 10.7ppg and 4.3rpg.

   #4. Fernando Mussongo (198-F-96, currently plays in Switzerland) was not able to secure a victory for Lugano Tigers (5-5) in their game against Starwings (2-9) in the Swiss SBL. He cannot count Sunday's game as one of the best ones. Mussongo scored only one point in 12 minutes. Lugano Tigers lost 64-68 on the road to the league outsider (#11) Starwings. Mussongo has averaged so far 1.7ppg and 2.2rpg in nine games. He has a dual citizenship: Angolan and Swiss.

   #5. Paulo Sopita (203-PF-93, currently plays in Japan) couldn't help Iwate Big Bulls (5-17) in their game against Koshigaya Alphas (20-2) in the Japanese B League D3. Sopita cannot count Sunday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only 2 points. Iwate Big Bulls were crushed 87-63 on their home court in Iwate by the leading Koshigaya Alphas. Sopita has averaged so far 1.3ppg and 3.0rpg.
