In the clash of two strongholds of African basetball Angola narrowly defeated Egypt to win All-Africa Games. They extended their tournament best record and celebrated a well-deserved victory.
Egypt entered the game more confidently as the grabbed an early 16:12 lead. However Angola managed to level the game and surged ahead in the second quarter. They established a 27:24 gap at halftime. The distance kept on growing as Angola used numerous Egyptian mistakes in the third quarter to spur ahead. Angola secured a 46:36 dominance at the start of the final frame. Egypt tried hard to cut the deficit and came as close as 6 points but Angola wisely used ball possession at the dying seconds to ensure the victory and the title.
Mayzer Alexandre (185-G-84) nailed 15 points to lead Angola. Victor Muzadi (201-C/F-78) delivered 10 points and 6 boards for the champions. Egypt replied with 16 points, 16 rebounds and 6 assists from Ismail Amed. Tarek Taha added 11 points and 11 boards in defeat. Egypt dominated the boards 39:35. Angola at the same time shot better 40% from the field.
