Algerian D1 round 21 best performance: Mohamed Boussad

Point guard Mohamed Boussad (180-PG-1998) had an amazing evening in the last round for top-ranked Nadi Basket Staoueli, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 21.
The 27-year old player was the main contributor (26 points, six rebounds and seven assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat USM Blida (#8, 11-10) 82-69. It allowed Nadi Basket to consolidate first place in the Algerian D1. Nadi Basket have a solid 17-4 record. In the team's last game Boussad had a remarkable four three-pointers out of 7 attempts. It's his second year at Nadi Basket and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Mohamed Boussad averages this season 9.2ppg.

The second best player in last round's games was young DR Congolese Mutomb Mbav (206-C-1987) of Union Sportif de Setif. Mbav had a very good evening with a double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds. Of course US Setif cruised to a 75-68 relatively comfortable win over slightly lower-ranked Moustakbal (#13, 3-18). The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. US Setif keeps 12th position. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 7-14 record. Mbav is a newcomer at US Setif, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was another US Setif's star - forward Anis Azzouz (198-F-2000). Azzouz showcased his all-around game by recording 12 points, 11 rebounds (!!!) and 6 assists in the last round. He was another key player of Union Sportif de Setif, helping his team with a 75-68 win against slightly lower-ranked Moustakbal (#13, 3-18). The chances of US Setif not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 14 games, recording just seven victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Azzouz could try to bring US Setif's a little bit higher in the standings. Azzouz has individually a great season in Algeria. After 15 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 8.6rpg (8th best).
