D1 Round 21 (Regular Season): CSC Djasr defeat Widad in the closest game of the week

The most exciting game of round 21 in the D1 took place in Boufarik. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of second-best Widad (14-7) to ninth ranked CSC Djasr (10-10) 75-74 on Tuesday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the home team. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Widad. CSC Djasr forced 20 Widad turnovers. Hezil Yamame stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and point guard Bouhaous Messaoudi (193-1988) chipped in 10 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. CSC Djasr's coach Sofiane Boulahia used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was the former international point guard Tarek Hamdani (194-1995) with 9 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists. CSC Djasr have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain ninth place with 10-10 record. Widad at the other side keeps the second position with seven games lost.
Important game to mention about took place in Tlemcen. Sixth ranked CR Beni Saf (13-8) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging 3rd placed Chabab Sportif (13-7) 55-54 on Tuesday evening. French-Mali guard Mamadou Keita (192-1993) nailed 20 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side and Imad Didi accounted for 10 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. CR Beni Saf's coach Didi Said allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Mustapha Braik came up with 14 points and 4 assists for Chabab Sportif in the defeat. CR Beni Saf have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Mouloudia. Chabab Sportif at the other side keeps the third position with seven games lost.
D1 top team - Nadi Basket (17-4) managed to deliver another win on Tuesday. This time they beat seventh ranked USM Blida (11-10) in Staoueli 82-69. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of USM Blida. The best player for the winners was Mohamed Boussad who scored 26 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Mousaab Kaoub who recorded 16 points and 7 rebounds. USM Blida's coach Ahmed Ben Djabou rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Nadi Basket have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 17-4 record. Loser USM Blida dropped to the eighth position with ten games lost.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 21: US Setif won against Moustakbal on the opponent's court 75-68. Mouloudia managed to outperform NA Hussein Dey in a home game 78-63. CR Dar Beida managed to beat Taradji Amel on the road 64-62. USM Alger crushed Rouiba on its own court 70-49.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 17 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals by Laamouri Merahi of USM Alger.



Moustakbal - US Setif 68-75

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 13th ranked Moustakbal's (3-18) home loss to twelfth ranked US Setif (7-14) 68-75 on Tuesday. US Setif looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was DR Congolese center Mutomb Mbav (206-1987) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds. Forward Anis Azzouz (198-2000) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. Four US Setif players scored in double figures. US Setif's coach Abdesslem Djeroudi used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Abdelwaheb Bounaas (180-1994) who recorded 17 points and 8 assists and point guard Slimane Boumedfa (180-1999) added 18 points and 4 steals respectively. US Setif maintains twelfth place with 7-14 record. Moustakbal lost tenth consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth position with 18 games lost. They share it with NA Hussein Dey.

Very predictable result in Alger where fifth ranked Mouloudia (13-8) defeated bottom-ranked NA Hussein Dey (3-18) 78-63 on Tuesday. Mouloudia looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. They dropped to the bottom position with 18 games lost. They share it with Moustakbal.
