Chenieff's double-double lands him Hoops Agents Player of the Week award

Ziad Chenieff

24-year old Ziad Chenieff (194-SF-2001) had a very impressive game in the last round for Rouiba Club Basket and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 20.
He had a double-double of 35 points and 13 rebounds, while his team edged out Chabab Sportif (#3, 13-6) 83-79. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Rouiba is placed at 4th position in Algerian league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Rouiba will need more victories to improve their 12-8 record. In the team's last game Chenieff had a remarkable six three-pointers out of 9 attempts. He turned to be Rouiba's top player in his first season with the team. Ziad Chenieff averages this season 12.6ppg.

Second best performed player last round was Nizar Taleb of Chabab Sportif Tlemcen. He is a in his first season at Chabab Sportif. In the last game Taleb recorded an impressive double-double of 13 points and 20 rebounds. Bad luck as Chabab Sportif was edged by slightly lower-ranked Rouiba (#4, 12-8) 83-79. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Chabab Sportif still maintains its place in the top 3 of the standings, even despite this loss. His team's 13-6 record is not bad at all. Taleb is a newcomer at Chabab Sportif and despite he is not a team leader yet, every game he becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.

Third place about best performers goes to guard Ahmed Boutiba (188-G-1995) of Union Sportif Medina Alger (#8). Boutiba scored 27 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Despite Boutiba's great performance the USM Alger lost 67-69 to the higher-ranked Nadi Basket (#1, 16-4). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing USM Alger needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 11 victories and 9 lost games. Boutiba has a very solid season. In 18 games in Algeria he scored 13.3ppg.
