Algerian D1 round 12 best performance: Merouane Bourakaib

International Point guard Merouane Bourakaib (180-PG-1992) put on an amazing game in the last round for Mouloudia Club of Algiers, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 12.
The 33-year old player was the main contributor (24 points, five rebounds and seven assists) to his team's victory, helping them to edge out Taradji Amel (#10, 5-7) 85-81. Mouloudia is placed at 4th position in Algerian D1. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Mouloudia will need more victories to improve their 8-4 record. Bourakaib turned to be Mouloudia's top player in his first season with the team. Merouane Bourakaib has solid league stats. He is in league's top in assists (3rd best: 5.8apg) and averages impressive 2.8spg.

The second best player in last round's games was Hezil Yamame of Club Sportif Communal Djasr Constantine. Yamame had a very good evening with a double-double of 32 points and 25 rebounds. Bad luck as CSC Djasr lost that game 66-84 to the higher-ranked Nadi Basket (#1, 11-1). This loss caused CSC Djasr to drop to 11th position in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 5-7 record. Yamame is a newcomer at CSC Djasr, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 16.4ppg (#5). He also registered 12.3 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was international forward Nabil Saidi (200-F/C-1980) of Nasr Athletic Hussein Dey (#14). Saidi scored 27 points and grabbed 11 rebounds (!!!). Despite Saidi's great performance the NA Hussein Dey lost 71-75 to slightly higher-ranked US Setif (#13, 2-10). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. NA Hussein Dey can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have extremely bad season and 1-11 record places them at the very bottom of the standings. Saidi has a very solid season. In 5 games in Algeria he scored 18.6ppg.
