Algerian Basketball SuperDivision new rules

The kick-off of the Algerian Basketball SuperDivision (men) for the 2024-2025 season has been set for October 25.

"The new season of the Super-Division will consist of a single pool of 14 clubs," indicates the press release of the Algerian Basketball Federation (FABB).

The first phase will be played in a round-trip format, with 26 days in total. At the end of this phase, the top eight in the standings will play the Play-offs, while the remaining six teams will play the Play-downs. Regarding the National Division 1 women, the season will begin on November 1 with 12 clubs divided into two pools. These are the 10 clubs maintained in National 1, to which are added the two promoted WO Boufarik and EI Annaba.

"ABS" chairman also announced the renewal of the decision prohibiting foreign players from playing in national championships, namely the men's Super-Division and the men's and women's national divisions, during the 2024-2025 season. "Foreign players who are students or residents in Algeria can participate in regional division championships," specified the FABB, which set the deadline for submitting the registration file to September 30, and defined the new age categories for the coming season. As a reminder, WO Boufarik (men) and GS Cosider (women) were crowned Algerian champions during the past season (2023-2024).
